I intend to use word processing in my curriculum area by having my students work in the computer lab on writing art criticism essays. This will be more intriguing to students as they will have more choices of artwork on the internet and be more engaged using word processing tools.

Whats your impression web quest

Here is another fun web quest about Monet.
Searching the internet, I found many interesting web quest ideas. ...unfortunately, many were obsolete. I did find a few I could use as part of my elementary art curriculum. One on Rock Art was pretty interesting. Check it out. This would be a great activity for sixth grade as students begin studying ancient civilizations in the beginning of the year.

Digital Nation

It is a different world out there than it was 20 years ago. Multitasking is distracting, at least to me. It was interesting to see the students and professors opinions at MIT about reading and research. The big concern was that students write in paragraphs instead of writing one cohesive essay piece. Information is instantaneous. Students don't even have to read books anymore. They just google there information.

I found this interesting: Comparing virtual learning to loosing the knack for reading books with loosing the ability to memorize oral histories replaced by writing books. One person called it an evolutionary leap while others disagreed.

I was facinated by the way one business utilized second life for digital conferencing. how fun...and free.
